Unicon Achieves Privacy Shield Framework Certification
Company makes commitment to International Data Protection and Privacy Standards
Gilbert, AZ – December 18, 2019—Unicon, Inc., a leading provider of education technology consulting and digital services, announces that it has achieved Privacy Shield Framework certification. The Privacy Shield Framework is an international initiative that facilitates data exchange between the European Union (EU), Switzerland, and the United States by providing a mechanism for complying with specific requirements for transferring personal data. The program is administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration.
To become certified, Unicon has made a public commitment to comply with the Framework’s requirements, which are based on a strict application of data protection principles by participant companies. Participants must limit personal information to the information relevant for the purposes of processing, inform individuals of their rights with respect to their personal data, comply with accepted data retention principles, and adhere to specific restrictions around transferring personal information to a third party, as well as other requirements.
"We’ve made it our goal to meet or exceed the strictest form of protection related to privacy and security needs for our customers,” said Linda Feng, Chief Privacy Officer, Unicon, Inc. “Achieving Privacy Shield certification allows us to validate our existing processes. It also demonstrates Unicon’s awareness of the importance of international data security issues and a corporate commitment to data security and privacy."
