Family Ties: Work Remotely with Unicon

My parents are "snowbirds" from Michigan who normally spend the winters with me in Gilbert, fleeing from Michigan's abundant snow and very cold temperatures. Covid effectively trapped my parents here with me for an extended period of time. Fortunately, it quickly became obvious that not only could we all save some money by living together longer, but that we truly enjoyed living together and could do so without getting on each other's nerves. I was glad to be able to spend more time with them as they get up there in age as well as being able to help them with any issues (health or other) that arise.

When the time came that Covid was less of a factor and my parents could finally return to Michigan to avoid Phoenix's brutal summers, I checked in with HR at Unicon to see if I'd be able to continue working remotely, but this time from Michigan. I was pleasantly surprised that not only was Unicon happily willing to let me work remotely from another state but that they were excited to have their first “snowbird” employee.

So, as I write this from a wonderful 60-degree Michigan spring, I am thankful that Unicon allows employees to work remotely and that they are flexible so that changing where I work from throughout the year is a simple process. Unicon is truly an awesome company to work for!
